22 of the most hilarious ‘Golden Girls’ scenes to make your day

The Golden Girls has aged as finely as its cast of older women. There wasn’t a more acceptable sitcom ensemble than Beatrice Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty. It would last for seven hilarious seasons.

The show had so many memorable moments of laughter. This video compilation highlights the 22 funniest scenes from the front. Fans of The Golden Girls voted on these moments.

The first scene comes from season 1, episode 13, A Little Romance. The premise is that Dorothy has a new boyfriend, but he is short. Blanche feels awkward and tries not to make terrible jokes.

Dorothy feels like a fool and tries to save face. When she brings out the food and asks ‘Shrimp,’ she immediately turns around in embarrassment. The crowd has a colossal laugh.

In season 1, episode 5, The Triangle, Rose tries to convince Blanche to tell Dorothy the truth about the man she’s in love with. Rose then brings up a ridiculous scenario about how Dorothy will be betrayed.

Rose cites how Dorothy’s man could bang every woman at a country club in this story. Blanche wishes she hadn’t heard that story.

In season 7, episode 16, A Midwinter Night’s Dream Part 2, Dorothy talks about Rose’s cooking. Dorothy tries to make the story relate to sex and relationships.

Dorothy starts tearing up, hoping Rose will understand her plight. Rose says she gets it but then laughs.

Rose cites how Dorothy’s cupcakes are dry and tasteless. Dorothy bitterly argues her cupcakes are moist and delicious and that men love them. Rose says men would go instead for cupcakes.

Dorothy is about to shout at Rose but realizes she thinks they’re talking about actual cupcakes. Rose, however, gets defensive about Dorothy baking with another man. She gets so heated she breaks a mug.

In season 2, episode 2, Ladies of the Evening, the girls end up in jail. Rose talks about her dreams of becoming Butter Queen, a title in St. Olaf.

After Blanche misinterprets it, Rose explains why it was the highest honor. She then states how all her preparation failed. Her butter churn jammed, and she lost.

Rose is sorrowful but also bitter. She then brings up how there had been churn tampering involved.

In season 5, episode 3, The Accurate Conception, Blanche tries to help her daughter get pregnant with artificial insemination. Blanche questions if they know where the sperm will come from, and the doctor says they have plenty of details.

Blanche asks a stricter question: ‘What the hell are we doing here?’ She feels like she’s in a nightmare and doesn’t approve. Blanche says she doesn’t feel right paying a ‘sperm pusher.’

Blanche then brings up how she never had to pay for pregnancy. Dorothy cites how Blanche has always depended on the kindness of strangers for that. This generates massive applause from the audience.

In season 4, episode 20, High Anxiety, Dorothy and Sophia are acting for a pizza commercial. The director instructs them to look at the camera like they’re making love to it.

After a snide remark from Sophia, the director calls for action. Dorothy delivers a line about how she found her ma some real good pizza. Sophia remarks that she stinks at acting.

The director tries another take, and Dorothy messes up her line. Dorothy tells the director she can’t say the line because it’s grammatically incorrect. She then gets all ecstatic about her confidence.

The director then replaces Dorothy, demoting her to a pizza employee. An angered Dorothy plops the pizza down on the table as another woman reads her lines. Sophia, however, quits when realizing the pizza tastes awful.

In season 4, episode 1, Yes We Have No Havanas, Blanche comes onto the visitor, Fidel. Sophia tells Blanche to back off. After Blanche makes one more attempt to flirt with Fidel, Sophia insults Blanche’s slutty means of bathing seduction.

Before a fight breaks out, Fidel tries to calm them down. He bids them farewell. Both women state how they have plans for tomorrow.

As Fidel departs, Rose questions why Blanche would have desert with him at midnight. Sophia answers for her: ‘There’s always room for Jello.’

Blanche states how much she hates Sophia and regrets moving in with her. Sophia says how much she wishes she never gave birth to Blanche. This confusing sentence confounds Blanche as they’re not mother and daughter.

The list continues onward with so many hilarious scenes and one-liners. Here are some of the highlights of, well, the highlights.

Season 2 Episode 9, Joust Between Friends, features Blanche’s most offensive line towards Dorothy. After being betrayed, Blanche only has one sentence to say to Dorothy: ‘Eat dirty and die, trash.’

In season 3, episode 16, Grab That Dough, the girls are on a game show. They’re asked to complete the phrase ‘Better late than blank.’ Blanche gives her answer quickly: ‘Pregnant!’

Season 3, Episode 2, One For The Money, is just a great scene to watch. A dance marathon is going on, and the girls are competing. They bicker and feud their way to the top with hilarious results.

In season 2, episode 3, Take Him He’s Mine, Dorothy worries about Blanche being out late with her ex-husband Stan. She cites how Blanche should’ve wrapped things up with him quickly.

Dorothy then gets her coat on, and the girls ask where she is going. She responds perfectly: ‘To either get ice cream or commit a felony. I’ll decide in the car.’

There are so many more excellent moments from The Golden Girls. After all, this is the second of multiple favorites lists. You can probably think of a few of your favorites, considering how funny the sitcom remains to this day.
